Bella kept her eyes on her stomach, tracing patterns over her shirt. It kept her calm; it kept the both of them calm. It wasnt the fact that he spoke so harshly, it was that he was completely right. “Rose promised to take care of him if something happens to me. Edward doesn’t want anything to do with either of us.” She murmured. “This isn’t about me, Jasper. It’s about my family.”
Jasper gave an exasperated sigh. “Do you remember how he was like when he /thought/ you were dead? Imagine how it’ll be when you really are dead.” he furrowed his brow. “There won’t be a family if you and Edward are both gone.”
“I’m not going anywhere, so don’t worry.” Bella replied defensively. She was set on surviving this, no matter the cost.
Jasper raised a brow. “No offense Bella, but you can’t exactly control death.”
Bella sighed softly, frustrated. “I won’t die from this! He’s a baby, not a murderer.” Death wasn’t her concern. It never had been.
“And all these other ‘babies’ killed their mothers. How do you know it won’t be the same?” he frowned. “Think rationally Bella! Even if you do give your life for this child, what’s going to happen to it? You know Edward won’t want anything to do with it,” he pointed out a little harshly. He then took a breath, closing his eyes. “I’m sorry.”
“It wouldn’t be forever,” he promised quietly. “I just… I wouldn’t be able to handle it. I think of her as family too. So even without all the added emotions, I’d be upset. I’ll just be projecting all of our sorrow back at you, and it’ll be double the pain,” he frowned….
“I’m glad you approve, Rose,” he said a little dryly, shaking his head. “I’m not sure what Alice thinks about leaving. We took some time to ourself yesterday to get our heads clear and all,” he mused. It kind of sucked going from carefree to the downpour of emotions of his family. “I see what you mean, Rose. But is it worth her dying? For all we know, this creature could be dangerous. Like an immortal child!” he frowned. “That is true, but do you have any idea how to do that? Just giving birth to the child wasn’t enough for all these women. There needs to be more done.”

Jasper frowned. “Rose, I’m already pulling my hair out from all the emotions. And this is just while she’s pregnant and dying! I’ll die of overload if she actually dies,” he rubbed his temples.
Rosalie looked at Jasper, “I know you are. Jasper, you and Alice are our family. You can’t just leave us..” she told him with her eyebrows arching inward showing she was upset and a litle angry about this.
“It wouldn’t be forever,” he promised quietly. “I just… I wouldn’t be able to handle it. I think of her as family too. So even without all the added emotions, I’d be upset. I’ll just be projecting all of our sorrow back at you, and it’ll be double the pain,” he frowned. “Why do you want Bella to keep this baby so much? You know it’s killing her. Carlisle even said so. The facts are that no mother has survived this hybrid child.”
